Launching Bold Wise Studio
Updated 03/06/2026: A lot has changed in the 8 or so months since I wrote this. The biggest is really refining the types of work that I do and recognising that thinking and making are two sides of the same coin for me. I think to make, and make to think. That means I'm bringing the studio work back into Bold Wise rather than forcing separation. I wanted to keep this post up for posterity, but I'll be writing and sharing more on this in the future.
It’s been clear to me for a while now that there are two, distinct parts to the work I do, and the work Bold Wise – my business – takes on.
On the one hand, I’m still deeply embedded in design work, from planning out websites and apps and exploring usability challenges and flows, to designing interfaces, logos and identities – with some graphic design work around the edges (I’ve still got that soft spot for the printed page). On the other, though, is the less tangible but, perhaps, more impactful work. This is where I work with people to test, refine, define or frame their ideas. Sometimes it takes the form of conversation. Others I’m working alongside teams to figure out what’s blocking, or where opportunities lie.
What I’ve really come to realise, though, is that while these two areas can complement each other, they are diverging in my practice. With that in mind, quietly, behind the scenes, I’ve split out Bold Wise into two entities: Bold Wise and Bold Wise Studio.
With Bold Wise I am focussing on the more abstract and the transformational. Collaborating with and advising people and teams with the goal of helping to shape and hone their ideas. With Bold Wise Studio I, and the team of fantastic people I can bring together, will continue to work on bringing creativity, energy and expertise to design projects big and small.
Put simply, if Bold Wise is about direction, Bold Wise Studio is about delivery.
