Tools
I’ve always liked working close to the tools themselves. Sometimes that’s about building or tweaking things, sometimes it’s about removing friction so it’s easier to think, write, or make progress, and often it’s simply about curiosity and experimentation. These posts cover the practical side of that. The setups, systems, and bits of technology that support the work, and how they change over time.
- The quiet evolution of this site 21st of April 2026 I wanted to document how I manage this site now, and how that process has gradually changed over time. Underneath it all, the principles are much the same: keep things simple, stay close to the files, and make posting easier with each iteration.
- The simple joy of iterating 16th of April 2026 It suddenly struck me that I'm free to play with my websites, to test out ideas, explore techniques, think and re-think things. And thats just what I've been doing.
- Updating all the things 16th of January 2025 Play, tinkering and experimentation OR Friction and inaction redux.
- Moving to Mastodon 25th of January 2023 Goodbye little blue bird, hello extinct elephant-like mammal!
- Friction and inaction 11th of May 2022 For the past (checks last post date) six or so months, I've posted nothing here. In that time, though, I've been busier than ever. So what gives?
- Switching to Eleventy 24th of September 2021 As foreshadowed I've moved the site's generator over to Eleventy, so I now have no excuse not to write more.
- Switching to Jekyll 8th of July 2020 I just switched this site over to Jekyll. If you'd visited this site early yesterday evening then you wouldn't have noticed a single change — and that was my goal.
